1.00How do I find contractors and pricing for a commercial kitchen build out for a start-up restaurant?
Q.I am starting a new restaurant and need more accurate pricing estimates for the landlord and bank as far as kitchen build out costs. How do I find commercial kitchen contractors and how do I price shop without wasting everyone's time? Do I need an approved design layout first? Help!
A.I would do a layout first and then have the contractors bid it out according to the design layout. That way you get the contractors bidding out the same thing and you can compare apples to apples.
They will ask some questions that you didn't think about so your design layout may alter.
You can find reviews on the services you need at Angie’s List – from electrician to physician. This is a special link for a special offer: http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-3501334-10582896?sid=ya061209
This looks like residential contractors but I've gotten contractors that have done commercial work as well. At least you can see reviews of them.
Hope it goes well!

1.00How can I tell if I have 200 amp electrical service?
Q.My breaker box has 2 columns of breakers. The top breaker of each column is 100 amps.Does this mean I have only 100 amp service?
The house is all electric, built in the early 1970's. I want to replace my tank water heater with a tankless electric. The tankless requires 200 amps.
A.The size of your service is determined by two things; the Main Disconnect (Breaker) ampacity, and the size of your service entrance conductors. For example; you could have a 200 amp panel and main breaker, but have only #6 AWG Service Entrance Conductors left over from an old 60 amp service. No matter what size panel you install, those number 6 conductors will burn up before they give you anything close to 200 amps. This is why it is important to know the actual electrical "load" required by your home.
I have never, ever seen a residential appliance that requires 200 amps. Somehow, I think you have miss-stated or misunderstood something in the installation instructions.
Most tankless water heaters I've seen require no more than a 60 amp, 240 volt feeder circuit. I've seen some as low as 40 amps.
If the Manufacturer specifically states a 200 amp service is required to the dwelling, NEC 110.3(B) requires that a minimum 200 amp service be installed. If it is a recommendation, a 100 amp service may be okay, if you have a small house with no other electrical heating appliances (stove, furnace, cook top, oven) and no other large loads like a pool pump or spa.
The only way to be sure is to hire a QUALIFIED, licensed electrician to do a load calculation for your home. Have him use the "Standard" load calculation from NEC Article 220, parts II & III; rather than the "Optional" method from part IV. The "Optional" method will often give you a lower figure for your required load, but the "Standard" gives a little more "room" for future additions to your electrical system.
If you have a very large home, or, in your specific case, an "all electric" home [with lots of "add-ons" already (pool, spa, steam-room, etc.)], you may find a 400 amp service is required. This can be done with a "poor-man's 400", which is actually a 320 amp meter and two 200 amp panels. If you live somewhere that has adopted the 2008 NEC, you can install one of the newly allowed "super-panels" that will give you a true 400 amp service (with 84 breaker spaces).
Incidentally, “Alvarz” is wrong; the smallest size service allowed on a new home (or installed as an up-grade) is 100 amp. I have seen residences that have 800 amp services (& nearly got lost trying to find my way out).

"DRYER VENT CLEANING
$800.00+ per week
Dryer Vent Cleaning
Northstar Services Incorporated is a growing company and we're always looking for good people. We've been in business since 1983, an active member of the Better Business Bureau and the leader in residential dryer vent and duct cleaning. We're a national company and need people in your area to clean residential dryer vents. No experience necessary and we provide
Ok found answer that you dont become employee you are your own contractor not what I was looking for thanks.
A.Well, it is a 'legit business' but will require you to pay around $300 for equipment. According to some sites, once you pay $300, you'll also get sample flyers and basic instructions on how to conduct your business.
Although you have to remember, you'll be an independent contractor not an employee.
The potential to make $800/wk is up to you. Self-employment is hard work and if anyone guarantees a high rate of income in a short time span is lying.
You may also need to get insurance to cover any liablity. If the dryer vent isn't cleaned properly and the house catches on fire, the customer may file a claim against you.

1.00Legal/ Law Enforement Professional advice?
Q.I live in Las Vegas, Nevada about two years ago I pled guilty to a misdemeanor concealed weapons charge. Under really bad advice from a friend, I thought I was obeying the "Tote Law" we have here in Nevada. I had my pistol with me while walking my dog. I was stopped and arrested.Initially I was charged with a felony, but in court I was offered a misdemeanor with the stipulation of a fine and inpulse control classes. I'm thirty years old, and besides this inccident have never been in ANY sort of violation of the law. The question I have now, is how this will affect me in the future. I'm planning on moving out of state soon, and still own long rifles I purchased close to a decade ago. I was originally charged with a felony but pled guilty to a misdemeanor, so I don't know if I can have my existing firearms repaired if needed or possibly purchase new ones I've seen advertisements that offer expungement services, but I'm not sure about that either. I appreciate any advice available on the matter.
A.Nevada law does not require the registration of firearms. However, handgun owners in Clark County must register their concealable firearms at a law enforcement agency within an incorporated city of Clark County.
Nevada is a "shall issue" state for concealed carry. The county sheriff shall issue a concealed firearms permit to qualified applicants. A person must take a class to receive the CCW concealed carry permit and must qualify by demonstrating use of the exact handgun that the person will carry if an automatic, and only a representative model for revolvers(all revolvers operate the same way).
Also effective Oct 1, 2007 a CCW permittee can qualify with a revolver and thereafter carry ANY revolver (or derringer) - the permit will simply state "Revolvers Authorized"; however, one must continue to qualify with each make/model/caliber of semi auto pistols.
The CCW permit costs $105, and is valid for 5 years for residents and 3 years for non-residents.
Effects: -It might make it slightly harder to get a job due to your record but since it is only a misdemeanor you shouldn't have excessive difficulty.
- As you mentioned that you have rifles, you need a permit for those and when they see your record that might have an effect.
I'd give you the Firearm Laws for the state your moving to but you did not mention it. However if you have a permit for Nevada these states MIGHT admit the permit too: States that honor Nevada's CCW permit: Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas*, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan*, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah (*Residential Permits Only)
Hope I Helped and Good Luck

1.00How much would you pay for a professional carpet cleaning? Independant or a national chain?
Q.I own a two man carpet cleaning business. We are a two man team and we use the best truck mount system you can get. Our work is excellent and we do furniture as well as on-site vacuum cleaner repairs. We are commercial and residential. We charge 3 rooms for $69. Would you call us or Stanly Steamer or Sears etc.
A.That is a great price, but price alone won't get you the work. You will have to count of word of mouth and good reputation to bring in business. Can you use written testimonials from previous customers in a flyer or advertisements? Maybe offer customers a discount on future services ($10.00 off)on referrals. You may also be able to compete with the big guys on flexibility-offer more evening and weekend hours so they don't have to take a day off to get their carpets cleaned. Good luck!

1.00What are some construction worker quotes?
Q.Today i decided for my career i want to be an construction worker. So now in class we have to give a quote on why do i want to be an construction worker. So do you have any quotes
A.“When they get moving on the construction, there will be 75-80 construction workers, and when the plant is all geared up, the workforce will (more than) double. All hiring is done under the West Virginia Jobs Act, which means 75 percent of them have to be local workers.” - John Wiater
“One of the regular challenges of our organization is to convince parents and their children that the construction industry is a good career choice. There's a shortage of skilled construction workers and will be for the foreseeable future. Immigrant workers are vital for our industry and this town.” - Stephen Gennett
“The tick up in the unemployment rate largely had to do with the fact that we had construction workers who basically had to file because of the rain and the stormy weather. When we have inclement weather like that, construction workers are not likely to work on the site. The majority that filed came from that industry.” - James Hardway
“For our industry, it will mean lower worker benefits and increased employer costs. The bill increases weekly (unemployment) benefits for higher-paid construction workers at the expense of UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers) grocery workers.” - Cliff Finch
“For the construction workers, there will be probably not be so much work in new residential building, but there will be work in nonresidential building and there will also be work in reconstruction projects in the hurricane-affected areas. It's a mixed bag for construction.” - Nigel Gault
“While the construction economy has grown, living and work standards for construction workers have fallen.” - Terence M. O'Sullivan
“We must build a movement that does effectively address the construction industry as it is today and which helps the majority of our nation's construction workers have good jobs, good training and a path for new opportunities.” - Terence M. O'Sullivan
“The immediate benefit is as construction starts, that will bring a tremendous number of construction workers to town, which will help local industries. It has created a need for housing, and with that, has brought numerous developers from out of the area looking to buy land and fulfill the need for housing.” - Curt Morris
“We in Washington, D.C., are experiencing the best of times but yet the worst of times. The number of jobs is rising, but so is unemployment. Go to these construction sites. You'll find that a majority of construction workers are not District residents.” - Marion Barry
“If you only have 15 percent of the work force available for the jobs, where are the rest of the workers going to come from? ... A vast majority of the construction workers on this project will be from out of town in Los Angeles.” - George Hawkins
“We know the average construction worker in America is 53. We also know that America's youth is not lining up to learn the skilled crafts. . . . If the federal government doesn't come up with a functional guest-worker program, we will have some problems, and not just in Arizona.” - David Jones
“We cannot stand idly by, tied to a past that promises only further decline for construction workers.” - Terence M. O'Sullivan
“There were a lot of areas that we would've liked to work, but the areas just weren't safe. Like one of the construction workers said, it only takes one brick to fall.” - Bill Hall
“It just adds to the total vibe of the show. We're supposed to be construction workers.” - Tim Varney
“We have truckers. We have construction workers, we have fence companies who have already offered their services free of charge, who want to get involved in this project.” - Carmen Mercer
